Warm-up Greet the students as usual while play some soft music to create a pleasant atmosphere. Divide students into two groups and have a competition with each other. Encourage students to be a prepared reader, a skilled reader, an active reader and a critical reader.呈现本课教学目标,营造轻松的英语学习氛围,拉近师生距离,并鼓励学生积极参与其中。Step two:

Be a prepared readerPresent a picture of the undersea world with different animals on the screen and then teach the new word: creature.

T: Today we are going to learn about two of the creatures Look at this picture(part of it is covered) and have a guess. What is it? What do you know about it?

Students guess the animal and have a free talk about it (shark, dolphin).

T teaches the following new words by using the pictures:shark, huge, fin, scared, dolphin,

Guide students to read the words aloud and try to memorize them.通过图片学习整理目标词汇,符合七年级学生认知特点,且操作简单,便捷。

鲨鱼图片和海豚图片部分被遮挡,学生猜测时兴趣盎然,积极性高,剩余词汇的引出水到渠成,同时为接下来的学习做铺垫。Step three:

Be a skilled reader1.Predicting

Students read the topic of the passage together while the T writes it down on the blackboard.

T: Look at the pictures on the screen, can you tell me what they are?

S1:A shark.

S2: A dolphin.

T: and here is a boy, his name is Tim. Now from the topic and the three pictures, can you predict what the passage is about?

2. Fast reading

Get Ss to go through the story as quickly as possible and fill in blanks about when, where, what, who, how and the writing style.

One minute is given to students to finish this part. A countdown clock is set on the screen to propel students to grasp time.

3. Reading for details

Activity one

Get Ss to read the story paragraph by paragraph and match the main idea of each paragraph.
