III. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead in
Sign a song “Traffic Lights”. Get students ready for learning.
Review the traffic signs. Show the pictures of the traffic signs and read them together. Then show the pictures again and ask students to speak out the traffic signs as fast as they can. The fastest one will get one point for his group.
Look at the pictures and learn the results of disobeying the traffic rules.
Step 2 Presentation
Look at the title of the passage and the picture in 1a. Guess what the passage is about. Then listen to 1a for the first time and mark true or false for the following statements. Then read 1a again and check the answers together.

Watch the flash of 1a and get the useful information by the helpful words “first, second, third, last”. Then watch again and read after it sentence by sentence.

Fill in the blanks in 1b individually. Then the whole class check the answers and read the table.
Step 3 Consolidation
Retell 1a in pairs based on the pictures on PPT and the table in 1b, using first, second, third and last. Ask some pairs to retell the passage to the whole class.
Step 4 Practice
Look at the pictures in 3 about the traffic rules. Match the following sentences with the pictures in 3. Then ask students to say the rules according to the picture then check answers with the whole class.
Find the similarity and the differences among these sentences, then get to understand the imperatives.
Step 5 Production
1. Work in groups. Discuss in groups about how to keep safe when walking on the street. Then some students share it to the whole class.
