(一)教学重点:

引导学生掌握现在进行时的语用功能和动词现在分词的变化规则。

(二)教学难点:

能够变换现在进行时的句型,掌握不同的句式结构。

五、Teaching Procedure

Step1: Warm-up

Praise the students for their hard work and bring in the situation----go out to have fun.

Step2:The present continuous tense

(1) The first stop: KTV

a. Have the Ss sing the song “Lemon tree” together.

Show the first part of the lyrics and get the Ss to read the sentences in red aloud.

Ask Ss what is the tense of these sentences. Bring in the present continuous tense.

b. Ask several students what they are doing and show some sentences on the powerpoint for Ss to summarize the usage, signal words and different sentence patterns of the present continuous tense.

(2)The second stop: Game room

a. Play the guessing game. At one time, one student comes out to the front and the teacher shows him the verb in -ing form. He acts it out by body language and the other students guess what he is doing by asking “Is he/she …?” The teacher answers yes or no.

b. Ask Ss to observe the verbs on the Bb and summarize the rules of making –ing forms.

c. Have Ss finish the exercise on the worksheet (change the verbs into –ing form).

(3)The third stop: Beach

a. Get through the names of the persons in the picture.

b. Ask Ss to complete the short article by using the correct forms of the giving verbs.

c. Check the answers together.

Step 3: Group work.

The Ss discuss in groups and decide where to go for the last stop which is for fun. They draw the picture and describe what the group members are doing by using the present continuous tense. Follow the example.

Step 4: Summary

Sum up what we have learned today and remind Ss that they should relax after hard work.
