教学过程:

Step1. Lead in

Free talk:Ask some questions about the Ss’information: What’s your name? What’s your hobby? Where do you live?

Show some pics about a neighbourhood, and raise the question: What’s this? Lead the Ss to answer: It’s a neighbourhood. Learn the new word “neighbourhood” with more pics.

Show some pictures about a beautiful neighbourhood: Li Ming lives in this neighbourhood. Then introduce a new friend(Andy’s photo): He lives in this neighbourhood, too. Raise the question: What do you want to know about him?1.Li Ming knows some information about him, so let’s follow Li Ming and get to know the new friend.

Step2. Presentation

Listen and catch the information: Name and Address. Learn the phrase “next to” with some pictures. Then lead the word “neighbour”, and learn it with some pics.

Then move on listening and catch the information: nationality. He’s from Ottawa. Jenny’s from Ottawa, too.

Raise the question: Where did they live in Ottawa? Listen and answer: They lived in Young Street. Teacher raise the question: Does Young Street really exist? Play a video about Young Street.

Raise the question: Where does Andy live now? Does he enjoy his stay in Beijing? Lead in the new word “stay”. Guess the answer. Then listen and choose why he likes his stay in Beijing. Practice the sentence: Do you enjoy your stay in China? Does he enjoy his stay in China?

Then listen to Li Ming’s proposal: Shall I show you around? Learn the new phrase “show...around”. Create a situation and let the Ss practice the pattern in pairs.

Organise the information again: Andy’s name, address, county. What’s his hobby? Observe the picture and find the answer: He likes playing basketball. Use the information to form a name card.

Step3. Practice

Use the name card to review Andy’s information and the text.

Pair Work: Show some other name cards of 4 foreign pupils: How to introduce them to us? Use a dialogue to introduce them to us.

A: Who is he (she)?

B: He's (She's)......

A: Where is he (she) from?

B: He's (She's) from.......

A: Where does he (she) live?

B: He (She) lives in......neighbourhood.

A: Does he enjoy his stay in China?

(Does she enjoy her stay in China?)
