4. The Analysis of Teaching Methods
In this class, various teaching methods are used, such as the Task-based Teaching Approach, Competition Teaching Approach and Situational Teaching Approach. They help to arouse the students’ learning initiatives and interest, increase the efficiency and help students to learn about teamwork.
5. The Analysis of Learning Methods
Group Cooperation and competition are mainly used .They help students learn from each other through teamwork. Meanwhile, their sense of competition will be developed.
II. Teaching Procedures
Stage 1 Introduction:
1) Daily greetings. 2) Play a game with “Boom Game”.And review the phrases in this Unit by the game: sing a song/play the guitar/blow out candles…. 3)Match the two parts in part three.
Purpose: To create a happy and relaxing atmosphere. Students will learn better in this way. They’ll also review the important phrases in this game.
Stage 2 Presentation:
According to phrases and making some sentences with simple past tense .
Show some verbs and change their forms into past forms .
Talk about the words and try to make a summary about the pronunciation rules.
Purpose: Review the rules of regular verbs and pronunciation about simple past tense.
Step 3 Consolidation:
Read and Listen to part 1.
Show some irregular verbs and write their past forms.
Purpose: ① The students can get familiar with pronunciation. ② The students will know more about past tense.
Step 4 Practice
Listen to the passage and fill in the blanks in part 2.
Enjoy a song and find out the lost words.
Make up short dialogs with the sentence patterns of simpler past tense by the “Guess Game”.
Purpose: Practice the past tense and sentence patterns of simpler past tense
Step 5 Summary
1) Students sum up the class by themselves.
2) Announce and congratulate the winners together.
Purpose: ① The students can rethink what they have reviewed in class.② Students will raise their sense of competition.
Step 6 Homework
Assign the homework as follows: 1) Remember the past forms of irregular verbs in this topic. 2) Write a diary passage about your birthday party. 3) Finish Section D in your workbook.
Purpose: Further practice simpler past tense.
