Stage1

Show the pictures of weather. Ss choose their lucky number from 1 to 6, each number leads to a picture that stands for some kind of weather .Let students look at the picture and guess the weather in the picture. Eg:

sunny, cloudy, windy, rainy, foggy, snowy

Stage2

Draw a conclusion.

sun—sunny, cloud—cloudy, wind—windy,

rain—rainy, fog—foggy, snow—snowy

Show the adjectives on the blackboard and let students make a summary about the changing rules.

Stage3

Show the picture of 1a. Let students look at the picture and talk about the picture in pairs first and then play the tape. Point out the questions: Q1: Who is Michael calling? Q2: What are they talking about? Then choose some students to answer the questions.

Choose some students to act out the son and his mother taking on the phone.

----What’s the weather like today?

----It’s rainy today.

----How was the weather yesterday?

----It was sunny and warm yesterday.

Listen to 2a and learn to talk about temperature.

----What’s the weather like today?

----It’s very cold.

----What’s the temperature, do you know?

----The lowest temperature is … and the highest temperature is …

Point out the key sentences and useful expressions on the blackboard: How are things going? Remember to put on your raincoat when you go outside. It is rainy today, but it was sunny and warm yesterday. Then let students practice the dialog in pairs. Then play the tape and let students listen and follow the dialog again.

Next,divide Ss several groups and give five minutes to prepare a conversation.

Then, Ss come to the font to act out the conversation by using the new words, phrases and sentences.

Make a table in groups; Talk about it and write a passage about your table in groups; Then report your passages to the class.Last, T leads Ss to draw a conclusion and then assigns homework.
