二、Teaching procedures:
Step1. Pre-listening
Talk about the pictures
(Listening tips: When listening, pay attention to the important words, such as names, times and numbers.)
1)Ask the students to read aloud the numbers or the words of each picture.
2)Ask the students to guess what question it might be about each picture.
(Picture a: How much of the Earth is covered by the sea?
(Picture b: Is this a fish or a mammal? Does a tiger live on the land or in the sea?
(Picture c: Is the question about how wide or how deep of the sea?
(1kilometre = 1000 metres)
Step2.While listening
1)Get the Ss to listen to a quiz about the sea. Then circle the correct pictures. (Get students to practice the strategy. Focus on the listening strategy: listening of key words)
2)Check the answers.
3) Play the recording again for the Ss to listen and ask the students to try to write down the questions.
Q1: How much of the Earth is covered by water?
Q2: Which animal lives in the sea?
Q3: How deep is the deepest part of the sea?
Step3. More listening exercise about the sea pollution.
1) Look at the table and try to predict.
2) Students listen and fill in the blanks.
