Students know the sounds and spelling rules of [i?] [ε?] [u?] and can read tongue twisters smoothly.

Students learn some vocabularies about people’s appearances, such as age, hair etc.

Students can describe a person they love from the appearances and characters.

Thinking qualities:

Students improve their analysis and thinking abilities by distinguishing the double vowels.

Cultural qualities:

Students show their respect and love to people around them by oral training.

Learning abilities:

Students improve their abilities of catching key information and taking notes while listening.

Students practise their abilities of oral English, retelling and asking for further information.

The important and difficult points

The important points:

Students can master the sounds and the forms of three double vowels.

Students can describe a person they love from the appearances and characters.

The difficult points:

Students can distinguish the words which include those double vowels.

Students improve their abilities of oral English, retelling and asking for information.

Analysis of the students’ conditions

Students in Grade 7 are active, curious and enjoy interesting classes. So I organize some activities and games to arouse their learning interest. They are also ready to speak. So giving more chances for them, they will be more confident. What’s more, in Grade 7 they still have phonics multiple choices in exams. But soon in the next term, they will face another new type of listening and speaking exam which requires a higher ability.

Teaching methods and aids

According to the teaching material and the students’ conditions, I apply 3P teaching method (Leading-in, presentation, practice, production) in talk time section and communicative teaching method in speak up section. The teacher tries to create a real situation for students so that they can learn, practise and use English in a real life.
