Teaching Procedures
Activity I: Have students to brainstorm What do you get from films?
Step One Ask students to give ideas individually
Step Two Ask students to categorize the key words
Activity II: Ask students to raise questions
Step One Ask students to raise questions about Watching Films individually
Step Two Ask students to share questions within groups
Step Three Ask students to share questions within the class
Activity III: Ask students to read a sample and make comments
Step One Have students read the questions and the sample and comment on the questions
Step Two Guide students to design a chart to evaluate the sample
After the foregoing teaching, students have a preparatory idea about argumentative writing. In this part, students will be guided to think about the dimensionality of evaluation, that is to say, which aspects should be included. Meanwhile, students will be reminded of evaluating on account of evidence.
Step Three Guide students to make comments on the sample based on the agreed evaluation sheet
Ask students to think about the sample individually
Ask students to work in pairs to complete the evaluation sheet
Invite three or four students to report what they have for the evaluation sheet
Activity IV: Ask students to write about the topic My favorite film
Step One Guide students to write with the help of the evaluation sheet
Tell students they can write by following the procedures below
Write a topic sentence which indicates their opinion
Find out the key words according to the topic sentence
Extend the key words into sentences
Use connective words to combine the sentences
