Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Pre-task
1. T:It’s cold today. Would you like to do some hand exercises with me? Enjoy a short flash and do some the exercises after flash. Ask the students to say some words in the flash.
Then present ‘clap’, ‘slow’, ‘quickly’ and the consonants /kl/, /sl/, /kw/. Today we are going to learn something new about consonant groups at the beginning of a word and at the end of a word.
Step 2 While-task
Task1: /b/,/k/,/f/,/g/,/p/+/r/
1. Listen to the tape and present the consonant groups.
Pretty and Lazy are eating some bread on the grass. But their friend is crying not far away.
/pr/,/br/,/gr/,/fr/,/kr/
2. Read the words after the teacher.
3. Ask students give more words the these consonant groups.
Task2: /k/+/s/,/t/+/w/
1. Guess the words according to the dialogue.
2. Read the words and consonant groups in pairs.
3. Describe the pictures with some words with these consonant groups.
Task3: /s/+/k/,/m/,/n/,/p/,/t/ and /s/+/k/,/p/,/t/+/r/
1. Read the words.
2. Practise more words.
3. Read the following words in pairs.
