(1)T: When does Linda go to school? ( At 7:00)

T: When does Linda get to school? (At 7:30)

T: How long does it take Linda to get to school? (For 30minutes./ For half an hour.)

T: You’re right. So I think Linda’s home is far from her school. Do you think so? (Yes.)

(2) T: Because Linda’s home is far from her school, and Linda must get to school at 7:30, can she get up at 7:00? (No, she can’t.)

T: You are right. She can’t get up at 7:00. She must get up at 6:30 or before 6:30, or she will be late for school.

(3) T: Can Linda get to school at 7:40? (No, she can’t.)

Yeah. And I think she mustn’t get to school at 7:40. She must get to school at 7:30. She must get to school on time. She must observe our school rules.

(4) T: Must Linda hand in her homework before 7:30? (No, she needn’t.)

T: I think so, too. Linda needn’t hand in her homework before 7:30. She may hand it in later.

(5) T: If it is 11:30. Linda is hungry. She wants to have lunch, and I am her teacher.. Guess .What will she say to me? How does she ask me? (Lily, may I have lunch now?)

T: And I will say, “Yes, you may.”

T: If it is 11:10. She is hungry. She wants to have lunch. She may ask …

T: And I will say, “No, you may not.” or “No, you can’t.” or “I’m afraid not.” This sentence is more polite than the other two.
