3. talk about the importance, pros & cons of body language and raise the awareness of cultural differences.
4. develop some reading skills such as skimming for the main idea, scanning for the detailed information, inferring about the writer’s opinion between lines.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Pre-reading
1. Have a miming game to lead in today’s topic and review some word.
2. Learn what body language, facial expressions and gestures mean.
Step 2: While-reading
1. Skim the whole passage to capture the main idea of it.
2. Do the second fast reading and get what each paragraph mainly tells about.
3. Read Para.1 further and then try to find out what the writer thinks of body language & what stronger and even louder mean in context.
4. Read Para. 2 and answer some questions.
5. Do more practice on the sentence patterns.
6. Talk about what meaning the gesture thumb-up, patting the boy on his head, carry in different countries. Learn the word trouble, insult.
7. Read Para.3 in detail and identify what gesture it talks about, what it means in different cultures and what the writer wants to tell us.
Step 3: Post-reading:
1. Have a group work to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of body language.
2. Give the report.
Step 5: Assignment
1. Surf the Internet to find out at least five kinds of body language people use to greet others.
2. Write down the advantages and disadvantages of body language.
教学反思
整堂课反映的最大问题是自己临场反应能力的缺乏。对于学生给出的反应不能及时给出指导和纠正。并且也不善于倾听学生的答案。学生的答案反映出学生的想法和掌握程度,可以帮助我及时调整课堂教学,但这些都是我没有做到的。
文本处理能力缺乏。对于如何处理文本、如何用有限的东西发挥最大的功效,是我一直所困惑的。一字一句的斟酌考虑、一字一句的铺垫、甚至是一个标点符号的使用和提问都是基于对文本的深度解读,而这是我缺乏的。这也可能和我性格有关,对于问题的处理总是粗线条,大致相同就好,并未加仔细考虑。所以在这次的备课中让我很有触动,在以后的备课中要多加注意。
对于上课最开始的Miming Game,动作上的选择还是有所欠缺的。原本是选择smile,但是在试讲的时候觉得效果不好,所以考虑换成frightened。但没有考虑到这个词对于学生而言是个生词,所以完成游戏的时候就出现了一点小问题。
