Who is always among the first to help the victims after disasters happen?
To elicit the topic of the Red Cross and engage students in talking about what the Red Cross will do after disasters happen.
II. While-reading
Skim the passage and tell what happened between the Red Cross and the students. Match the main idea with the number of the paragraph.
To help students get the general idea of the passage by finding some key words.
Read paragraph 1 and answer questions about how the students got the idea of donating money to the Red Cross.
To enable students to know where the idea came from and what a social studies and science class mainly focuses on.
Read paragraph 2 and finish the list.
To get students to talk about the qualities needed to complete certain tasks well. To make them realize that earning money is no easy task.
Read paragraph 3 and answer questions about what the students have discussed at the meeting
