Teaching objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. express some ideas through brainstorm.
2. put the ideas into sentences.
3. join the sentences together.
4. write a composition within ten minutes in class.
Teaching procedure:
I. Pre-writing:
Let students discuss what should/shouldn’t do in and out of school through brainstorm.
II. While-writing:
1. Help students summarize some good sentence patterns by combining the two sentences with conjunctions.
2. Help students analyze the structure of a composition.
3. Help students choose a topic sentence for the composition.
4. Help students choose a conclusion for the composition.
III. Post-writing:
Have students write the first draft individually in class.
Choose one or two passages and help students revise them.
IV. Homework:
Revise the first draft and copy the composition on the exercise book.
