Step 1 Revision (4 minutes)

1 Play the tape and let students listen to the song —Jingle Bells.

2.Greet students. Show some pictures of the festivals on the screen. Then let the students say how to celebrate the festivals.

3.Show the pictures of the festivals on the screen again and review them together

Step 2 Pre-reading(15 minutes)

1. Ask the students “What do you know about Christmas”? Say: Christmas is the most important festival in many countries. Teach“important” 。Then ask “when is Christmas Day ?”(It’s on December 25th). Let the students say more words about Christmas 如“ Christmas tree”,“ Christmas card” “Christmas Father”(Santa Claus )“Christmas songs”,“ Christmas gift”,“ Christmas dinner ”, “Christmas Day”,“ Merry Christmas” , “Christmas Eve”, “Christmas party“, “Christmas greetings”, “Christmas shopping”,“Christmas cake”,“Christmas candies” and “reindeer (驯鹿)”

2 Ask the students “What do people usually do before Christmas/on Christmas Eve /on the morning of Christmas? Show the pictures to the students . Teach “decorate’’,“ Eve”,“church”,“ put up”,“ stocking”,“ fireplace”,“ open”,“ Santa Claus”,“ special”,“ greet” ,“merry”

3.Give students some minutes to read the passage by themselves.

4.Play the tape and let students read after the tape carefully. Help students summarize the activities in Christmas.

Step 3 While-reading (8 minutes)

1.Show the table of 1b on the screen and let students check the activities people do during Christmas time. Choose some students to check the answers in class.
