1.Learn and practise the new words and expressions with the key sentences extracted from the passage.
T: Do you know who invented basketball?It was James Naismith . He was Canadian. He invented basketball in 1891.He was the inventor of basketball and it has a history of over a century(=100 year).
T:At first basketball is an indoor game so that we can play it in bad weather. And basketball soon became very popular.It can be played outdoor . NBA came into being in 1946.There were many great basketball stars in the NBA .For many years they were all Americans. But now many good players came from other countries.
(2) T:How to play basketball? It is a team sport with two teams of five players each.
How to score in the game? The goal is to just throw the ball through the other side’s basket. And to stop other team from doing so. You can throw it from any part of the court with one hand or both hands. You can also pass the ball to your teammates. You must follow the rules in the game. For example, you can’t hold the ball and run with it. If you want to play basketball well ,you should have good skills and play as a team
