Teaching procedures

Step 1 I can talk

Talk with the students about their life. For example, talk about their names, hobbies. Help them understand me with the gestures and expressions.

Step 2 I can guess

Show the pictures of three students in the class. Ask the other students to guess what they can do. To prove their answers, help the students ask the three students whether they can do these things. During this step, the students should master the special questions and general questions.

Show the pictures of Obama and Xi Jinping. Repeat the above step. Famous persons make the students be interested in the communication.

Step 3 I can sing

Play the record of the song “ What’s in the tree?”. The students learn to sing it. The song will promote interest. Transit from this step to next.

Step 4 I can see…

Show three pictures of a classroom , a snack bar and a park. Talk about the things in the pictures. Pratice the pattern sentences.

Some things are missing. Ask them to pratice the pattern sentences again, especially the general questions.

Step 5 I can make a dialogue

Help the students make a dialogue like this:

Let’s go to …

Good idea!

What can you see?

I can see….

Can you see…?

Yes, I can./No, I can’t.

Can you draw it﹨them?

Oh, it’s easy. /It’s difficult, but I can try.

Ask some pairs to present their dialogue and draw the things they talk about. This is a real task.

Step 6 I can draw

On the basis of existing, ask some students to draw a picture of a park. Revise the words boat, flower, tree, hill, lake, river etc. If they are not good at drawing, help them draw some comics. The students should be willing to do it.
