2.学情分析:

As one of the top 2 classes in grade eight, students in this class have a good foundation of some basic English skills in high school. But when the teacher asks them to demonstrate their ideas to certain question or report their answer individually in oral form, they seem to be not active. So the majority of them don’t use English as a way of communication in daily life.

By leading in the topic of the coming sports meet in Dong Fang City, students will be active and interest in it. I will let students take part in the teaching activities in class and learn to talk about the sports meet in English, which can improve their ability of speaking.

3.重难点

Key point: The main words and sentences pattern about how to make the expression of appointment

Difficult point: Master the usage of the simple future tense with “shall”.

4. 教学过程

4.1 第二学时

4.1.1 教学活动

Stage 1 Greeting & Lead-in

Step1: T announces the beginning of class and exchanges daily greeting with Ss.

Step2: T introduces directly the topic of the unit to Ss: The school sports meet is coming.

Stage 2 Presentation

Step1: T presents the important words in the conversation with pictures: sports clothes, sports shoes, camera and the new word (shall) in this unit used to make appointments.

Stage 3 Listening

Step 1: T guides Ss to look at the picture in 1a and asks Ss three questions: Who are they?What are they doing?What are they talking about?

Step2: T guides Ss to look at the four choice of 1b and lets Ss listen and tick out the right answers by asking the question: Do you know what are they talking about in detail?

Stage 4 Group work

Step1: T lets Ss watch the flash together and then read the conversation in groups to complete the answer of table in 1C.
