Learn new words about places and some prepositions; practice the sentence patterns: Where is _____ ? -It is _____.
Vocabulary: bank, tower, library, market square, supermarket, bus station, sports center, map, market etc. Prepositions: opposite, near, above, below.
Materials: Power Point, riddles, activity sheet.
Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in (Doris)
The world is so big, I want to go out and have a look. So the first stop, Let’s look around our town.
Step 2 Vocabulary (Salvador)
Step 3 Riddles about vocabulary(Doris)
Step 4 Teach the prepositions (opposite, near, above, below) (Salvador talk about the word opposite.)
Step 5 Table work (Doris)
1. Talk about the places of the picture in your table.
eg: The supermarket is next to the library.
Each student at least write down one sentence .
( HL students can write more sentences.)
3. After finishing, everybody read them together.
Step 6 Showcase (Doris)
Rules: Ask one student of your table to show your picture to other tables; the other students stay and ask questions about other tables' pictures. (Each student has to ask one question).
eg: ---Where is the library? ---It is….
