Teaching procedure:
Step 1. Warm- up
Greetings.
2. The teacher guides the students to listen and sing the song together.“We all like climbing.”
3. The teacher asks the students :“What can you hear from the song ?”Lets some students answer . Then tells them :“Climbing,dancing and swimming , they are hobbies .”
The teacher shows Bobby on PPT , leads reading one time , then shows the word ‘hobby’ , teaches to read it two times .
The teacher tells the students that : Hobby’s plural form is hobbies , and this is the title of our new lesson , Unit 4 Hobbies . Leads reading it one time .
The teacher guides all the students to look at the teaching aims of the Unit 4 together .
Step 2. Lead- in
The teacher tells the students :“I have many hobbies. Do you want to know what I like doing ? You can guess.”Lets some students guess.
The teacher sums up her hobbies : I like reading , especially reading stories . I have a lot of books . We both like reading. I also like playing the piano , but I am not good at it .
The teacher teaches these points : ‘stories , a lot of , both , also , be good at’ in the lecture.
The teacher encourages the students to say more words and phrases about hobbies.
The teacher teaches them to read some hobbies of the new lesson.e.g. watching films ,playing the piano ,....And sticks the words or phrases cards to the blackboard .
The teacher guides all the students to play a game . If they see the words or pictures ,please read them loudly and quickly . If they see the bomb ,please say “bomb”.
The teacher asks the students : “ I want to know your hobbies . Can you tell me? Please work in pairs , You can use the patterns on the PPT “ What do you like doing? I like... .”
The teacher gives the students a tip : Don’t forget to add ‘ing’ at the end of the verb after like .
Then asks some pairs to stand up and show their hobbies .
Step 3. Presentation
The teacher tells the students : We are talking about our hobbies now. And there are some children in the story time , they are talking about something too . Please watch the cartoon ,then answer my questions .
Lets them watch the cartoon , then asks some students to answer the questions :
a. Who are they ?
b. What’s the topic?
The teacher asks the students to read Part 1 and Part 2 by themselves. And gives them a tip : When you read the long text , please underline the key phrases .
The teacher asks the students :“What does Mike like doing ? /What does Yang ling like doing ?”
Lets some students give the answers .“He likes playing basketball .He likes playing football . He likes ... .”
Then guides the students to read the sentences of their hobbies one time .

The teacher lets the students read the text in groups freely . They can choose the way they like best : 1.Read in sentences . 2. Read after the group leader . 3.Read together. ... .
