Show Sam and Billy’s name cards, and let the students describe them.
Purpose: The revision may help to review story time; the name cards help to lead in, and it is a main clue in the whole lesson.
Step two: Sound time

Let the students say some words begin with y.
2. Practice
Let them find the words begin with y in the songs and sentences; practice reading some other words begin with y.
3. Chant time
Listen to the chant, then, say the chant together.
Ticking time
Purpose: To make sure the students know how to read words begin with y, and the following practice make the students have a better understanding of y’s pronunciation.
Step three: Cartoon time
Show the back of Sam and Billy’s name cards.
1. Watch and answer
Let the students try to answer: What do they like doing?
2. Listen and answer
Let the students listen and tell: What is Sam’s idea?
Read, underline and answer
Read by themselves and try to tell:
What happened to Billy?
Why did he fall into the lake?
Read sentence by sentence
5. A little teacher
Pick several students lead the other students to read.

Give students 1min to prepare for the show.
7. Ticking time
Purpose: Improve the students’ listening, reading, and speaking ability, and help the students understand better about the text. Also, let them know they can’t play in dangerous places, they should protect themselves.
