III. Teaching procedure
Step 1 Lead-in
Talk about what students like doing in their spare time and what hobbies are. Lead to the topic.
Step 2 Brainstorm
Review words or phrases about hobbies.
Ss are required to write them down in two minutes , and share with others in groups. Then show the best one on the Bb and add more.
Review verbs or phrases to describe hobbies.
Ask Ss to write them down and invite one of them to write down on the Bb. Then check and add more.
Write down the hobbies of people around Ss and read to others.
Pay attention to the verbs.
Review the expressions to describe the reasons of having hobbies.
Ask Ss to write them down and share. Then check and add more.
Step 3 Listening and talking
Listen to T’s hobbies and fill in the blanks. Then tell the class.
Make dialogs about hobbies and fill in the blanks.
Ask some pairs to act them out.
Step 4 Reading
Read two passage about Mike’s and Amy’s hobbies. And answer the questions.
Q1: What are their hobbies?
Q2: Why do they like them?
Q3: Which sentences do you like best?
Read and underline the answers, and check.
Step 5 Writing
Write a letter to the one you like to make friends with and tell him or her your hobbies.
Step 6 sharing
Show letters and praise the good expressions. And give some advice.
