Step 1 Lead in
Play a song My heart will go on.
Ask students who the original singer of this song is. In other words, “Who sings the song ?”
Then ask them the following questions about music.
Do you love music ? Do you like English songs? Who is your favorite singer?
Step 2 Presentation
Introduce the original singer Celine Dion, guiding the students to know about the exclamatory sentences .
Eg: What a beautiful woman! What wonderful songs! How kind! How hard she works!
Show some pictures to further understand the exclamatory sentence.
Practice
Choose what or how to form exclamatory sentence.
3. Lead into 1a.
T: Celine Dion is going to give a concert on Sunday. But I am very busy on that day. What a pity! Luckily, my friends are going there. They can lend the CDs to me. How exciting!
4. Listen to 1a, and answer questions in1b.
What is Sally going to do this Sunday evening?
What is Jack going to do?
Which singer will sing at the concert?
When and where will she give the concert?
5. Read 1a and find the expressions which show Jack’s and Sally’s feelings and some difficult language points . Then draw a smiling face for a good feeling and a crying face for a bad one. If they meet problems, they can ask the group leader or the teacher for help.
6. Check the answer by asking “What does Sally think of My heart will go on?” Learn to make exclamatory sentences.

Work in pairs and practice 1a. Then ask some pairs to act 1a out.
