Step 1 Warming up and revision

2. Revise The Present Continuous Tense by using the chant.

What are you doing now? We are reading.
What are you doing now? We are writing.

3. Lead to the new tense: The Past Continuous Tense.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Brainstorming : Get Ss to think of as many words and phrases about activities as they can.
2. Play a guessing game. Show the photos of the teacher and some students doing different activities and then
ask and answer between the teacher and students, using the sentence patterns Were you Ving at this time
yesterday ? Yes, I was. / No, I wasn’t . What were you doing at that time ? I was Ving. etc.(Bb)
3. Teach the new words and phrases in the sentences with the Past Continuous Tense, using the pictures of
the students doing different activities.
