Conclude and classify prefixes and suffixes shown in this class. 教学过程 Step I: Warm up activity
Word Bank: Use the given letters to make up as many words as possible.
Requirements: 1. Any letter can be used more than once, even in one word. 2. Work within groups and think of at least 10 words.
Then the teacher chooses 3 groups to show their answers.

Step II: Mind-map——Hyponymy
The teacher introduces the concepts of hyponymy, superordinate and subordinate.
In order to help students grasp those concepts, the teacher takes the word “animals” for example and guides the students to draw a mind map of some subordinates of it.
Group work: Assign the students to follow the example to list out main subordinates of “Food”.
Step III: Mind map——Derivation(Affixation)
Introduce two concepts of affixation: prefix and suffix.
Complete the mind map of derivations of “dependent”. Chinese meanings and characteristics of those derivations have been given. The teacher leads the students to finish this task together.
Group work: Write derivations of the given word according to the given hints.

Conclusion: The teacher leads the students to classify prefixes and suffixes shown in the above exercises according to their functions and then to summarize the functions of prefix and suffix.
Step IV: Summary
The teacher leads the students to summarize what they have learned in this class. 作业布置 1. List out the subordinate words of “sports”.
2. Write all the derivations you learned of“satisfy”and“impress”.
