Teaching process
Lead-in
Ask question: Have you ever been called childish? Lead students to share their experience.
Show picture: some pictures about the childish things students might have done.
Pre-listening
Introduce background information of the speaker
Lead students to predict “what may be talked in the speech?” as well as introducing some new words to prepare for the listening.
a. It is kids rather than adults that are to blame for many irrational, irresponsible behaviors.
b. The word “childish” shouldn’t be used to criticize irrational thinking because it is age-discriminatory.
c. Learning between grown-ups and kids should be reciprocal.
d. Adults place too many restrictions on kids and often underestimate their abilities.
While-listening
Watch the video to get the main idea and decide the points Adora makes.
Watch some clips and discover “how did Adora make her points clear?”
Watch the clips again and lead students to work in pairs to match the examples with the related points.
Watch the clips one by one and explain related culture knowledge.
Lead students to answer the questions(if necessary, watch related clips)
