Before this lesson, ask students to sum up the difference of predicate and non-predicate. As they have already learned and reviewed this knowledge, so it’s just a review and an oral report is enough.

Answers:

1. am/is/are/was/were是谓语

2.动词第三人称单数是谓语

3.情态动词+do是谓语

4.动词-ed形式需判断主被动

5.动词原形需判断是否省to

Aims: through this task, students can get prepared for the following study. It’s a preparation.

Step 2: How to mark out decorative structures?

Before the lesson, the teacher has already hand out some Chinese reading materials on the decorative structures and how to mark them out. So, in this step I will let the students to share their understandings with their group members and fill in the blanks in a chart.

Answers:
