Step I: Lead-in
Let Ss look at the sentences from the book.
Step II: Discovering the structure
1.Ss find out what is emphasized in each sentence. .
2. Discover the structure of these sentences: It-cleft sentences
It is/was... that/who...
Step III Learning in teamwork
Task 1:
Ss find out some rules of It-cleft sentences in groups of four.
the use of “who”
the use of “that”
It-cleft sentences with “not…until…”
the structure to emphasize verbs.
Task 2:
Ss try to make sentences by using It-cleft sentences.
Step IV Practice.
