学情分析：本班学生英语基础一般，但态度认真，学习热情高。学生已经基本上掌握在阅读中获取细节信息的能力，部分学生能流利地用英语表达自己的观点，但多数学生在理解和整合知识，逻辑推理和分析论证观点，及批判评价能力方面还比较欠缺。此外，对于克隆技术，学生有一定的了解，但对于克隆技术所带来的社会伦理冲击了解较少。
教学目标：
在本课学习结束时，学生能够：
梳理获取文中有关克隆技术及其用途的事实信息。
概括，整合克隆羊多利所带来问题和社会影响。
感受理解论述文的特点，结构，并用在未来应用文的阅读理解中。
形成对克隆羊批判性思维品质。
教学重点：
学习作者如何从背景知识介绍，到典型案例分析，再到深层分析不同群体对于克隆羊技术的不同态度和观点，引导学生探明论述文的篇章结构特点，最终理解作者的态度和写作意图。
教学设计：
Step1 Lead in--warming up
Students answer a brain twister and listen to a song “Mary had a little lamb”.
Show students pictures to briefly introduce the first cloned mammal Dolly and ask students to identify two kinds of cloning--natural cloning and man-made cloning using what they have learnt in biology class.
Step2 Pre--reading
Students read the title to guess the topic to be discussed in the text and try to give answer to the question--where is it leading us?
Step3 Fast reading
Read the passage quickly to match the main idea with each paragraph
