Pygmalion Effect
The main idea about the Pygmalion Effect is that if you believe that someone is capable of achieving greatness, then that person will indeed achieve greatness. This effect came from the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, which is also the basis of the film and stage musical My Fair Lady.
“The difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she’s treated.”
A classic Greek story: Pygmalion, a gifted/ talented artist, makes a stone statue of a beautiful woman, called Galatea. He falls in love with his ideal woman, so he asks the Greek Goddess Aphrodite to bring her to life. His wish is granted--Pygmalion and Galatea get married.
