Step1 The teacher show a song “Tears in Heaven” and introduce the background , make students underline “if” sentences and ask what is the meaning on the sentence. 利用歌曲激活学生对虚拟语气的兴趣,导入话题。 实践内化

The teacher asks the students to write down the “if” sentences then tell the meaning and the usage. Students underline the sentences to describe and make conclusion.

帮助学生从记忆中检索提取在非真实条件状语从句表示与现在事实相反的虚拟语气,为后面的任务做复习铺垫。 Activity2

The teacher tell an story about an accident, first ask some questions about the accident, then make a detailed information about Timmy Black’s death, including the accident place, the reasons and the results. According to the information structure, the teacher asks students “How to avoid Timmy Black’s death? in order to introduce “ had + done, would +have+ done” Subjunctive Mood. 学生通过阅读文章,提取相关信息,推断出主人公发生悲剧的原因并导出与过去事实相反的虚拟语气用法。 Activity3

The teacher express the pity with “How I wish Timmy Black could bring back to life”, then ask students to express their ideas with “ wish + that +主语+could/ would + do” 通过对文本的解读,进一步提炼升华,总结出wish 虚拟语气的用法。 Activity4

The teacher asks the students , “if you were a friend of Timmy Black’s family, what would you do?” . Students discuss in groups and voice their ideas, eg. “If I were a friend of Timmy Black’s family , I would do ……”

Li ming, a senior two student, failed in an important exam , as a result , he indulged in playing games and often quarreled with his parents, what’s worse, he wanted to give up studying.

According to the letter, the teacher asks the students to discuss Li ming’s problem and give advice to him.

Activity 2: Lily and Lucy are good friends, recently they have quarreled, Lily are so depressed and she didn’t know how to do.

What suggestions do you have ?

Fifteen—year—old Timmy Black was popular with his peers at his school in the far west suburbs, he was liked by his family and his teachers, he never missed the school, but on his last day, a Monday, Mrs Black said he’d better stay home. He was nursing a cold caught over the weekend and it was pouring with rain outside, Mr. Black, a construction worker, also stayed home. Mr. Black was looking for odd jobs to do around the house. One was to clean his 22 caliber pistol --- a gift years ago from his father. One was to clean his 22 caliber pistol --- a gift years ago from his father. One day it would be Timmy’s. Mr. Black unlocked a garage cabinet, removed the pistol and placed it on his work bench. The phone rang, it was Mr Black’s father. Somehow, Timmy wandered into the room, found the gun, handed it, and pull the trigger.

“It happened so fast.” Mr. Black said, “ They said it was one in ten million.”

Although it happened nearly five years ago, Mrs. Black still won’t talk about that awful day, Mr. Black says that every day is “living in hell.” And the toughest thing of all was telling Timmy’s younger sister when she came home from school. He remembers her screams and the nightmares she had. He says his wife “is better now”, but she never smiles and the twinkle in her eyes has gone.

Police said the bullet almost missed Timmy, it flew past his face but ricocheted off metal in the ceiling and struck him in the head. Timmy died instantly. Police ruled out suicide, foul play and brought no charge.
