活动1 【导入】 Warming Up

a. Present a short video about whether kids believe in Santa

b.Lead in Passage A: Why I Want My Kids to Believe in Santa Claus for as Long as

Possible

活动2 【学习】 Skimming and Scanning Para 2-7

Ask students to use skimming and scanning skills to find out the reasons why the

author wants the kids to believe in Santa and fill in the blanks

活动 3 【学习】Analysis and Extension

Ask students to analyze the reaction of the author’s first-born son

Extend the background information about ELF, a new practice at Christmas time

Ask students to analyze the relationship between the family members based on some hints in the passage

活动 4 【学习】Critical Thinking

Divide the students in a group of 4 and discuss about what led the elder boy to

cooperate with the parents and keep the secret.

活动 5 【实践】 Consolidation and Transition

Inspire students to brainstorm and think about how the mother will explain to the

younger son if one day he challenges the belief in Santa.
