(1) How to help Ss practice their reading skill of locating details;

Teaching procedure:

Step 1 Simple revision and lead in:

* Play the video: 说唱脸谱 (by 杭天琪)

* Ss are encouraged to try to summarize some details from the video, such as what colors have been mentioned in the song.

Step 2 Presentation (based on the video):

◆ Positive comments (by foreigners):

“美极了,妙极了,顶呱呱……”

Amazing, wonderful, awesome, beautiful…

Lead Ss to come to the conclusion:

Beijing opera is highly appreciated across the world.

Lead Ss to think of a verb to make up a sentence:

e.g. Colors ____________ the personalities of characters.

(represent, reflect, mirror, indicate, suggest, symbolize, etc.)
