Thoughts on the design:
本节课是以读、说为主的词汇教学课。课时为一节。本节课遵循认知规律,按照学生温故知新——探索新知识——使用新知识——巩固新知识的客观规律进行教学。从学生以往学习过的法律词汇入手结合单元主题引入新的法律词汇,帮助学生做好新旧词汇知识的结合和迁移。此外本堂课也对法律词汇背后所蕴含的文化知识进行了输入。激发学生对于法律知识的兴趣,培养学生的法律意识。
Teaching aims:
Get familiar with the expressions related to the law.
Learn about the stages of the legal process.
Practice and reinforce the new vocabulary.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Introduction
The teacher starts the lesson with a brainstorming to help students recall the vocabulary learned about crime. And the topic ‘the law’ is introduced.
【设计说明】由于话题对于学生有一定的陌生感,采用积思广益的方法导入可以活跃课堂气氛,帮助学生回忆过往的相关的已知词汇,从而实现新旧知识的迁移和拉近话题与学生的情感距离。
Step 2 Read and learn
Let students read the article in Part A on page 54. Ask students to explain the following words in their own words. Pictures are used as prompts.

Step 3 Read and understand
Ask students to read the article again and try to further understand the role of the police by organizing the following items in proper order.

Step 4 Legal process
Ask students to go through the flow chart on the textbook and try to understand the legal process. Then encourage students to retell the legal process to the class by using their own words.
【设计说明】通过阅读流程图使得学生了解司法程序并学习新的词汇。鼓励学生使用新词汇复述司法程序。这一教学步骤不仅培养学生阅读和逻辑思维能力,同时鼓励学生使用新知识巩固新词汇。
Step 5 Fill in the blanks
Ask students to read the passage in Part C on page 55 and fill in the missing words from Parts A and B.

Step 6 Match the words with the definitions
Ask students if they know any words about crimes. Match the following words describing different crimes with their definitions.
