Assumptions What your students already know (about the language, an activity, the topic) that will help them in this lesson? 1. the students may have learned some words and phrases about food which will contribute to their learning of the passage.
2. the students may have already read some passage about balanced diet and healthy eating. They man have some idea of what is healthy eating but not very clear.
3. the students may have command some basic reading skills like skimming and scanning but they may not be very good at them.
4. the students must have done some group-work and know how to work together to work out a task.
5. As 21-century students, the students may work out some good ways to get more customers for the two restaurants.
Anticipated Problems and Solutions Very specific problems and solutions in regards to classroom management of a particular stage and/or new language. Problem Solution 1 This is the first time the students meet the teacher, the students may feel unfamiliar with the teacher and they may not cooperate with the teacher. The teacher will deliver a short introduction of himself. Meanwhile the teacher will try a build a friendly relationship with the students while teaching. Group competition may help get the students motivated. Some small gifts may also help.
2 The students may feel nervous because there are many teachers listening to them and they may be afraid of making mistakes. The teacher will give his lesson in an enthusiastic and humorous way to make the students feel at ease and the teacher will also encourage the students a lot and give them more praises to help them feel confident. 3 The teacher intends to give this lesson all in English, it is likely that the students can not follow the teacher. The teacher will use more clear instructions and use more CCQs to make sure the students can follow them and meanwhile the teacher will try to use more simple English to help the students understand. The teacher also need to pay attention to the pace of language. 4 There are several group-work in this lesson, there is a slim chance that the student wouldn’t try their best and some of the students may just
pretend to do it. The teacher will start a competition between different groups to get the students motivated.
The teacher will also walk around to check in case some students are pretending. 5 In the discussion, the student may work out some marketing strategies but ignore the most important thing for a restaurant—that is delicious and healthy food. If such a problem does occur, the teacher should remind them of it.

Enjoy a song This part aims to make the students feel relaxed in class and meanwhile leads to the topic of this lesson. 3mins 1. During this stage, the teacher will ask the students to listen to the song Chinese food and lead in the topic healthy eating. During this step the students just listen to the music, and they may automatically think of different kinds of food, maybe in English. 2 Warm-up
Step 2 This part means to lead the students to classify the food into 3 kinds and get the students prepared for the reading. This part will also let the students understand different kinds of food helps you grow in different ways. This part also deal with some new words about food. 4mins 1. The teacher will show 3 pictures of 3 famous people and then their favourite food and then helps the students to classify them into 3 groups.
2. The teacher will then work together with the students to figure out what makes a balanced diet. 1.During this stage, the student will try to recall the names of some food and get to know some food’s name they haven’t learned before.
2. During this stage, the student will gradually understand the 3 kinds of food which will be helpful in the following reading. 3 Pre-reading This step aims to help the students develop their ability to predict with the help of pictures and title. 3mins 1. The teacher will show the picture of Wang Peng and Yong Hui, ask the students to describe them.
