一、教学目标
By the end of the section, students will be able to:
1. note down the key information about the two scientists according to the timeline;
2. describe the similarities and differences between the two scientists;
3. share with partners some more information about the two scientists and other great scientists.

1. To watch the video and answer the questions;
2. To figure out some common characters among famous scientists.
三、教学过程

1. Have you ever dreamt of becoming a scientist?
2. Can you name some scientists who you are familiar with?
3. Can you talk about some scientists’ stories and contributions?
The teacher lets students recall their childhood dream, and asks whether they dream of becoming a scientist. The teacher can encourage them to talk about the scientists they are familiar with and share their knowledge about these scientists’ stories and contribution.

Individual Work
Class Work Step 2 The teacher draws students’ attention to the picture of Yuan Longping and lets students share their knowledge about this great scientist and his contribution to the mankind. 利用教材图片,导入主题,带领学生进行头脑风暴,激活学生已有的语言背景知识,自然过渡到学习内容。 5’
Group Work Video time Step 3 Students watch the video about two scientists and find out some detailed information about Yuan Longping and Stephen Hawking according to the timeline. Students finish the blank-filling exercise next to the preview of the video clip.
