询问学生三个问题：
What’s Halloween? What do chilren do? What do people do? 为新课节日的学习做出铺垫。
Tell me about some festivals:请学生说出自己知道的节日，然后出示一些节日图片，一起看图说节日名称，随后介绍今天要学的节日：Thanksgiving 感恩节。（板书节日名称。）

出示关于感恩节的图片，以及课文中的图片，观察课文中将出现的人物。
Step 3 presentation呈现
A: 出示main questions 三个主要问题，请学生听录音并找到答案。
What’s Simon’s favourite festival? Simon最喜欢的节日是什么？
Is it a Chinese festival? 它是个中国节日吗？
When is it? 它在什么时候？
学生关书听录音，然后回答。并订正答案。（板书an American festival 一个美国的节日）。 出示11月的日历，讲解感恩节的具体日期。（板书：It’s on the fourth Thursday in November. 在11月的第四个星期四。）
B: 提出问题：What happens on Thanksgiving day? 请学生听第一幅图，跟读，并讨论回答问题。
出示答案提示，请学生填写表格：教师板书答案内容。
Familiesare …Theyhave …Theysay …Theyhave …补充感恩节传统食物：roast turkey and pumpkin pie烤火鸡和南瓜派。
提出问题：How is Thanksgiving? Is it a big festival? 感恩节的是个怎样的节日？请学生在课文中找到答案：Thanksgiving is a very important festival in America. 感恩节在美国是个非常重要的节日。（教师板书。）
C: 提出问题：What did Simon write? Simon写了什么？听第二幅图，跟读并讨论回答问题：
He wrote a poem about Thanksgiving. 出示Simon写的小诗，让学生富有感情地朗读，从而了解poem这个单词的意思（小诗）。
Step 4 Role-play reading 分角色朗读。
让学生根据课文，两两合作分角色朗读，体会课文中词句的用法。
Step 5 Summary总结
Can you tell me about Thanksgiving? 你能给我讲一讲感恩节吗？
请学生根据所学到的感恩节的知识，小组讨论，根据教师出示的图片和黑板上的重点语句，简单介绍感恩节。
Thanksgiving is an American festival. It on the fourth Thursday in November. Families are together. They have a big, special dinner. They eat roast turkey and pumpkin pie. People say thank you for all the good things they have. They have a lot of fun. Thanksgiving is very important in America.

达成情感目标：
On Thanksgiving day, people say thank you for all the good thing they have. Do you want to say thank you to someone or something? 感恩节的时候人们会对自己拥有的美好事物进行感恩，在此你有没有你想感谢的人或者事物呢？
请学生自主回答自己想感谢的人或事物。
“ From now on, be thankful for all the good things we have. Don’t forget to say thank you to our parents, teachers and friends.” 从今往后，我们要学会对我们生活中所拥有的美好事物感恩。不要忘记对我们的父母，老师和朋友说一声：感谢。
