warm up

Greeting to the students

Free talk:

T: Do you like presents? When do you usually get presents?

Ss: birthday/ Christmas/ new years….

T: so today we’d talk about birthday present. What present did you get on your last birthday?

Ss: a book/ pen/ bike….

T: Do you want to know what did Daming get on his birthday?

设计意图:通过课堂问候及自由讨论,为学生营造一个积极主动活泼的英语学习氛围。通过对话引导学生讨论生日礼物,为下一步的知识引入做好铺垫。

Presentation

Present some questions and pictures of activity two. Then play the video of this part.

Did Daming get presents on the birthday?

What did Simon’s mum give him?

What is the book about?

Next play the video (passage 1-3) and check the answers with students together.

Students will know the book is about space travel, and lead students learn the word: spaceship. And brainstorm with the class vocabulary relevant to the space.

Then ask students to read the rest of this passage, also ask them read with the questions:

(1) What did Daming and Simon see in the book?

(2) Where sre the spaceships from?

(3) What did Daming and Simon make?

(4) Was Simon’s mum happy?

When they finish, let’s check the answers together.

Next, play the whole video of this lesson. Ask students listen carefully and pay attention to the pronunciation.

At last, help students understand two phrases: a book about, be interested in.

设计意图:以生活实例引出对两个短语的学习,做到学习与生活相联系,便于提高学生理解与运用英语的能力。

Practice

Have a competition:divide the class into four groups, lead students rewrite the passage into a conversation and act out with their partners.

Next ask students to do the activity four.
