The Road Not Taken
By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow woodAnd sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stoodAnd looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth;
The 1st stanza
Which season does the poem take place?
In autumn because the leaves turn yellow.
What did the poet do at a fork , why?
He stood there long because he was thinking
about which road to take.
Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claim,Because it was grassy and wanted wear;Though as for that, the passing thereHad worn them really about the same.
The 2nd stanza
Which road did the poet decide to take? Why?
The other road, because there was more grass and it seemed less popular with travellers.
What did the poet think about his choice? Why?
He thought his choice was fair, because he had the better reason.
The 3rd stanza
And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I kept the first for another day!Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back.
Had anyone walked on the two roads that morning?
