A letter asking you for help
While-task
Hi guys,
My name is Julia, a 16-year-old girl who is studying in Nanping Secondary School. I want to make a pen-pal with you to improve my English.
I like English, but I have difficulty in learning English. First, listening comprehension is a difficult task for me because I tend to translate the sentences that I hear into Chinese. So I often fail to follow the speaker. Second, I am a little shy and get nervous in places where there are many people around. Thus I miss a lot of opportunities which I can take to improve my spoken English. Third, the most challenging one is to improve my reading comprehension skills. I still remember the day when my English teacher handed out the exam papers. I only got 20 out of 40 in the reading comprehension. I don’t know what the words actually mean, especially the words whose meanings vary according to the context, so that I am unable to fully understand the content. Perhaps, these are the reasons why I usually get low scores in English exams.
Would you like to be a pen-pal with me and give me some suggestions?
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours
Julia
