Teaching objectives

1.At the end of the class you will know the basic structure of the subjunctive mood.

2.You will write a poem using the subjunctive mood.

Subjunctive mood

When we talk about events that are impossible, yet we hope they will happen, or imagine they might happen,

We should use the Subjunctive Mood(虚拟语气)or unreal conditional sentences (非真实条件句)

Activity one: distinguish the sentences

Unreal conditional sentences describe unreal, imaginary situations. (untrue, wish)

Real conditional sentences describe real-life , possible situations.(true, facts)

1. If I were a bird, I could fly to the south in winter.

2. If you don’t eat any food, you will go hungry.

3. If Dad had a lot of money, he would buy a sports car.

4. If water boils, it turns to steam.
