What is WWII?
World War II was fought from 1939 until 1945. It was one of the most terrible wars in history. Much of Europe and Asia lay in ruins. About 55 million people had been killed in only six years. More than half of them were civilians (nonmilitary). But many people in many countries felt that they had met and destroyed a great evil.
What is D-Day, Operation Overlord?
D-Day is used for the day, June 6, 1944, on which an attak or operation is to be launched.
D-Day landings is actually Normandy landings. (诺曼底登陆)
Operation Overlord(霸王行动), code name(代号) for the military operation in 1944 to invade France.
