Anybody’s guess谁也猜不准的事
One man’s guess is as good as another’s.大家都心中无数。
Their anticipations were not realized.
Sth agree with one’s anticipation/predition.
Be matched be proved turn out true
Do you feel it easier to understand some parts when they agree with your guesses?
Do you feel you read faster when your predictions are realized?
Before you start on a road trip, you usually look at a map, then you have a better idea of the roads and the places. You can plan your trip better and have fewer problems. You can do this before you start reading, too. Some parts of a passage are like a map.
If you look at these parts such as titles, pictures, the first or last sentence of a paragraph, you can get a lot of information before you read a passage. Then you can make guesses about the passage.
Making predictions helps you read faster and understand better. The reason for this is simple: you know a little more about what you will read. You should always make predictions before you read.

Take the Valley of the Kings for example. Over 2000 BC, the Pharaohs were proud of building themselves magnificent big pyramids to preserve their dead bodies. But the treasures buried together with them were an invitation to theft and robbery. A lot of pyramids were broken into and emptied of all the treasures. About 1000 BC the pharaohs decided to choose a good place to hide their tombs, treasures and mummies. The Valley in Luxor near Cairo was such a place. When many kings were buried there, it took the name of the Valley of the Kings.

M2U3 Reading
Death shall come on swift wings to him who disturbs the peace of the King.
As for any man
who shall destroy
this tomb, he shall
not reach his home;
he shall not embrace
his children; he
shall not see success.
