Pride and Prejudice（1813）is a romance novel by UK writer Jane Austen. It’s one of the most popular novels in the English literature. The story portrays the society of the late 18th and the early 19th century by showing the condition of marriage at the time. The love between Darcy and Elizabeth is intriguing(引入入胜的) for its development – from dislike/detest to affection, the two finally reveal their true feelings for each other. In the excerpt below, Darcy tells Elizabeth for the first time how he feels in his heart about her.
