Ss: his experiences; why doesn’t he want to be a millionaire?

Then pay more attention to those italic sentences. They are leading parts in the newspaper. Leading parts briefly tell about the main idea of the passage.

?

?

Now by looking through the title and the subtitle, where does the passage probably come from?

Biography means a book that tells about what has happened in sb’s life, written by others.

追问How do you know ?

A interviews B.

One is the reporter and the other is the interviewee.

Then pay more attention to those italic sentences. They are leading parts in the newspaper. Leading parts briefly tell about the main idea of the passage.

The following paragraphs are body. Then by looking through them, we can answer the following questions.

?

?

Actually in our daily life, a lot of people are determined to become a millionaire. “be determined to do” means “make up one’s mind to do”. They spend half their time dreaming up ways of getting rich and the rest of their time thinking about all the enjoyable things they would do once they got rich.

But what are their views on money? And what’s Charles Gray’s attitude towards his money? Turn to page eight. Read Para One and Two and answer the questions. Fill in the blanks on your handout.

?

We know a lot of people care more about their money, but Charles Gray turned his back on his money. So what does it mean “turn one’s back on?”

?

Now we know Charles Gray’s attitude towards his money and now he isn’t a millionaire. Read Para 3 and you can find the different living conditions of him between the past and now. Share your answers with your partner. One minute.

或者 I would like you to read the answers together. You should say the whole sentence like this: In the past, he lived in a huge six-bedroom house but now he lived in a small dormitory room. Ready?

Look at those blanks. The passage doesn’t mention. When he was a millionaire, can you guess what kind of things they are? Expensive or cheap? Valuable or valueless?

From huge to small, more money to less money, expensive to second-hand furniture, why did he make the change? And what did he do? After doing sth, is he satisfied with his present lifestyle? How do you know it?

Why did he make the change? And what did he do? After doing sth, is he satisfied with his present lifestyle? How do you know it?

You should give me some evidence or sentences to support your idea. Then read Pare 4,5,6 and underline your answers on your books.

We know in the past, he was a millionaire and he had more money. But he was tired of being a person who had everything. “be tired of” means “be fed up with” or “be bored with”. So he was happy or unhappy? He had less happiness.
