Bao Gong An(包公案)
Di Gong An(狄公案)
The hero of these fictions is typically a traditional judge or a similar official based on historical personages such as Judge Bao and Judge Di.
Detective Fiction in West is more often considered to have begun in 1841 with the publication of The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allen Poe.
Many western readers generally preferred a type of detective story in which an outsider--sometimes a salaried investigator or a police officer, but often a gifted amateur--investigates a murder commited in a closed environment by one of a limited number of suspects.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle(1859-1930)
He was a British writer best known for his detective fiction featuring the character Sherlock Holmes. In addition, Doyle wrote over fifty short stories featuring the famous detective. The Sherlock Holmes stories are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction.
Referring to himself as a "consulting detective" in the stories, Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation, forensic science(法庭科学), and logical reasoning, which he employs when investigating cases for a wide variety of clients.
The original tales were adapted into stage and radio plays, television, films, video games, and other media for over one hundred years.
