方法介绍

A. Definition 定义法:

通过定义、定语(从句)或同位语(从句)来确定词义。

1. A person who is skilled at making or repairing wooden objects is called a carpenter.

2. His uncle is a zoologist, an expert who does research on animals.

B. Contrast 对比法

根据生词的前后出现的它的反义词或常用来对比的词语, 推知该生词的意思。

1. Though Tom’s face has been washed quite clean, his neck still remains grubby.

2. If you agree, write “ yes”; if you dissent, write “no”.

C. Cause and effect 因果法

根据上下文或整句的因果关系,推测该生词的含义。

1. He’s such a shrewd businessman that he loses no money in any trade.

2. She wanted the hairdresser to trim her hair a bit because it was too long.

D. Common Sense常识法:

根据生活经验、常识、逻辑推理等方面的知识来猜测生词含义。

1. When you throw a stone into still water of a lake, you will watch a ripple spread in rings on the surface of water.

2. She read the letter slowly to the end and then tore it to shreds.
