一、介词的句法功能
介词不在句中独立作成分，其后一般接名词、 代词或doing 形式，有时也可接一个介词短语(如from behind the door)。
1.作定语：The book on the table is mine.
2.作表语：My dictionary is in the bag.
3.作宾语补足语：I found him in the office.
4.作状语：We have lunch at 11. (表时间)
They were late for meeting because of the
heavy rain. (表原因)
They started the machine by pressing the
button. (表方法)
二、介词与动词、名词和形容词的搭配
1. 动词+介词，如come across, consist of, look after, result from, stick ___, wait ____。
2. 名词+介词，如doubt about, struggle against, interest ___, devotion ___。
3. 介词+名词，如in debt, ___ chance, ___ purpose
