复活节前，有许多人会将煮熟的蛋用颜料画上与复活节相关的图案。例如：十字架、钉子、百合花、兔子等等，装饰的五彩缤纷。然后互相交换，提醒耶稣的复活。父母会送礼物给孩子。复活节那天，也有人喜欢玩寻找彩蛋的游戏，大人先将彩蛋藏在花园草丛中，让小朋友们去找。找到彩蛋的人，就要说出蛋上图案的意义。
一年一度的美国白宫滚彩蛋活动经常被电视台实况转播。
