skim the passage: read the first and the last paragraph as well as the first and last sentences of the other paragraphs
3. Read the specific paragraph with a blank to be filled in and identify what kind of a paragraph it is: topic paragraph, supporting paragraph, transitional paragraph or concluding paragraph.
4. Identify what type of a sentence is needed in the blank: topic sentence, supporting sentence, transitional sentence or concluding sentence.
5. Fill in the sentence and read the specific paragraph again to have a check.
6. Read the whole passage again to have a check.
Never ignore the stucture of the passage!
